Spring has Sprung!  Kindergarten Artists have been busy drawing, cutting, gluing, and scribbling.  We reviewed the colors of the rainbow and made a picture of our friend “ROY G. BV!”  They learned about warm and cool colors and turned their scribbles into great artwork!      Hungry Anyone? In first grade the students made pop-art texture pizzas.  They came out wonderful.  They also looked at Claude Monet’s impressionistic paintings and sponge painted water lilies of their own.

The second graders made 3D aquariums with construction paper.  They also worked really hard on their line drawing, warm and cool, colored landscapes.  Currently they are looking at artwork by Georgia O’Keefe and creating flowers using pastels.

In third grade we learned about shadows.  The students made two figures with shadows.  They also looked at Pablo Picasso’s cubism.  They drew cubist style faces on styrofoam and printed them with ink.

Fourth Grade students painted landscapes with tall birch trees.  They learned about the artist Gustav Klimt.  They are currently working on abstract profiles.

The Fifth grade students worked on 3D paper stars that are hanging in the cafeteria.  Then they painted paper using watercolors to represent the four seasons.  They drew and cut out trees to glue onto their paintings.  They are now working on Henri Matisse inspired collages.

The Sixth grade students also made 3D paper stars that are hanging in the cafeteria.  They did watercolor paintings and are now working on turning objects into abstract cubist art.

The Seventh grade students studied stained glass.  They looked at many pictures of Cathedrals and made their own stained glass windows that are hanging in the windows at the end of the hallway.  Now they are drawing tessellations and learning about M.C. Escher.

In Eighth grade the students experimented with different watercolor techniques.  They cut out their watercolor papers to made landscapes.  Then they drew Zentangles, which are small sections of repeated patterns.
