Welcome to Art class
Garden at Giverny
Nothing might get us
thinking more about the warmer weather to come than
viewing some of Claude Monet's vibrant and colorful works
of art many of which were painted on his
property in Giverny, France. Monet's love of nature is
evident as so many of his canvases burst with color of the
outdoors. He was known as the “Father of Impressionism”, a style
which featured short brush strokes of
dots and dabs in bright hues. He was fascinated by the
effects of light at different times of the day. Monet created
well over a thousand paintings in his life many of which were
traded for food and clothing early in his career when he was a
“starving artist”. Claude Monet (1840-1926) continued painting
even with failing eyesight until his death.
